Make a Difference During National Volunteer Week

Each year, National Volunteer Week is celebrated from April 16^th to April 23^rd across the globe to recognize the contributions of volunteers and the impact they have in changing lives in our communities. Volunteers strengthen our community every day by sharing their time, talent, and energy to support the needs of others.

From picking farm fresh vegetables for families facing food insecurity to investing your time in making a difference in a child’s life through mentorship, there are many ways to create positive change in Palm Beach County during National Volunteer Week this year. Here’s how you and your family can get involved and support our neighbors in need:

1. Donate your time by packing food items on April 20th. Be a hunger hero by volunteering with us at the Palm Beach County Food Bank to sort and pack food items! The food you pack will be distributed to thousands of people in our community facing food insecurity. 2. Participate in our Gleaning Volunteer Project on April 22nd. If you want to make a difference by helping us feed local families struggling to put nutritious food on the table, our Gleaning Project is the perfect opportunity for you and your family! Bring your closed-toe shoes, comfy clothes, and sunscreen as we volunteer to pick fresh vegetables at a local farm in partnership with one of our funded agencies, CROS Ministries. 3. Become a role model for a local student through mentorship! In Palm Beach County, 1,050 kids are waiting to be matched with a mentor. As part of our investment in helping youth succeed, United Way of Palm Beach County works to educate and empower children and teens in our community with the help of dedicated mentors looking to be a positive voice in a young person’s life. 4. Volunteer online through one of our virtual volunteer opportunities. United Way of Palm Beach County offers the opportunity to impact our community even from the comfort of your home. You and your family can participate in various fun virtual activities, such as decorating a Star of Hope to spread hope and compassion, creating a bookmark to encourage the love of literacy in young readers, and more.
