Vice President of Major Gifts

REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President of Development

Purpose

To directly contribute to the mission of United Way of Palm Beach County (UWPC) by fundraising for Major Gifts at $10,0000 and above by growing the Tocqueville Society and stewarding donor relationships for Major Gift donors and philanthropist.

Responsibilities

  • Department presenter for workplace and philanthropic campaigns primarily for Major Gifts at the Tocqueville level, but also will be presenting for affinity groups, Planned Giving, Donor Advised Funds, and the UWPBC Leadership and Tocqueville level step-up initiatives.
  • Establish fundraising goals annually, while providing monthly fundraising matrix based on year over year comparisons.
  • Facilitate training for the Resource Development team on all aspects of major giving and donor relations.
  • Manage the Planned Giving program and facilitate the Planned Giving/Donor Advised Fund Committee.
  • Lead the Donor Advise Fund program, while working with the marketing team for web site and social media content.
  • Spearhead the UWPBC step-up from Leadership to Tocqueville level giving efforts
  • Initiates thank you calls, visits and written cards and communications to Tocqueville Society donors utilizing the Director Major Gifts for accurate and current updates
  • Manage content and mailing of quarterly Tocqueville Society Newsletter
  • Oversee Donor Search for researching prospective donors and prepare prospect reports for the Tocqueville Society Cabinet
  • Work with marketing and fundraising team to recognize and steward donors
  • Provide excellent customer service to key donors and prospects
  • Provide oversite of all gift acknowledgements for donors $10,000 and above
  • Assist the Tocqueville Society cabinet chair, cabinet, and staff on all external and internal Tocqueville matters
  • Assist with Tocqueville Society, Women United and Emerging Leaders Society events as needed
  • Monitor the major gifts budget and participate in the planning and creation of the annual budget
  • Assist, as assigned by management, with the organizations disaster response efforts
  • Perform other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Five years fundraising experience, with a preferred background in major gifts and/or Planned Giving
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be flexible to changes, able to work independently and have strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills
  • Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Knowledge of complex databases and ability to learn Andar software
  • Experience using Constant Contact, Trusted Partner and Adobe InDesign preferred
  • Accurate word processing, excellent follow-up and general office procedure experience required
