United Way is currently accepting VITA volunteers for tax season 2022!
Help Working Families Succeed!
The VITA Program is an invaluable service United Way of Palm Beach County has been providing to the community for the last eighteen years. It offers services to individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes who are eligible for tax credits. The program has prepared more than 161,000 tax returns, yielding over $255 million in refunds, and providing an estimated $380 million economic impact for Palm Beach County.
Last year, we recruited, trained and deployed 85 volunteers. Volunteer participation resulted in 4,400 hours and an in-kind value in excess of $119,816. This makes your one hour of volunteer time worth over $2,938. Talk about real value!
Volunteers are the key to the VITA Program’s success. As we enter the program’s nineteenth year of service, United Way needs your help recruiting 200 volunteers. A commitment of four hours per week is required during tax season from 16 VITA site locations throughout Palm Beach County offering a flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings and weekends, as well as some virtual and socially distanced options!
Volunteering for the VITA Program is an extremely rewarding opportunity! No experience is required and there are opportunities that don’t involve preparing taxes.
