WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO
It’s been a busy and inspiring season for United Way of Palm Beach County’s Hunger Relief team.
From strolling through the peaceful rows of the Woosah Community Garden with Federation of Families of Florida, to visiting The Volen Center in Boca Raton, we’ve been out in the community learning, connecting, and growing partnerships that fight hunger from the ground up.
We also teamed up with our amazing Emerging Leaders for a Summer Book Drive to spark imaginations and nourish minds at Summer BreakSpot sites across the county.
In early May, our team had the honor of representing Palm Beach County at the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC). The insights and advocacy shared there are already fueling ideas for future impact.
A heartfelt thank you to all our partners and site hosts. Your dedication helps make our mission possible.
The Summer BreakSpot Program provides free, nutritious meals during the summer months for children and teens ages 18 and under to help close the hunger gap when school is out.
Summer BreakSpot operates at locations like schools, nonprofit organizations, parks, libraries, and community centers, and reimburses participating organizations for meals.
Find a site near you by clicking the link to the interactive map below, or you can also call 2-1-1 or 850-617-7170.
FIND FOOD NEAR YOU
The Palm Beach County Food Finder Map is updated weekly and has been viewed over 496,000 times. Anyone looking for food or helping others find food is encouraged to search locations on the map. You can also get help finding food locations by calling 2-1-1.
A robust food pantry system is the best way to ensure people can access emergency food. Pantries mainly rely on food from local food banks and other donations. Inflation and the end of many COVID-era programs have decreased contributions and food available through the emergency food system. Support your local food bank and pantry system through food donations.
WHAT IS THE FARM BILL?
The Farm Bill is a comprehensive package of legislation passed once every five years that has a direct impact on agriculture, food systems, and consumers. It covers programs ranging from crop insurance for farmers to healthy food access for low-income families.
