Every September, a nationwide annual campaign is launched to inspire people to take action and raise awareness about food insecurity in the United States.
Despite its wealth, more than 192,000 residents in Palm Beach County struggle with hunger. More than 50,000 of these residents are children who do not have enough to eat daily.
United Way of Palm Beach County, along with our more than 200 partners, works year-round to identify needs, coordinate efforts, and build infrastructure, ensuring everyone has access to healthy food.

Donate Food to Your Local Food Bank or Food Pantry: Food banks and food pantries are a vital resource for many Americans, particularly with the rising cost of food. Increasingly, more people are relying on food banks and pantries to provide for their families. Find your local food bank or food pantry by looking up your zip code or city on our Palm Beach County Food Finder Map or Glades Food Resource Map.
The SNAP Challenge offers the community a glimpse into the struggles faced by millions of low-income Americans who struggle to put food on their tables.
Participants use the average SNAP benefit, which is approximately $6 per day, as their food budget.
Over the years, hundreds of members of Congress, governors, state officials, journalists, and other community leaders have taken the Challenge to gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to try to make ends meet on the average SNAP budget.
