August 2023 is the start of MISSION UNITED’s monthly newsletter. This publication aims to update the veteran community with information about the opportunities and challenges we face. Partner organizations will have opportunities to provide information or for the agency to be highlighted.
While this is a publication created by United Way of Palm Beach County, its intended purpose is much larger than that. We wish to inform both veterans and organizations to facilitate collaboration and navigation; only as a community can we genuinely help all veterans, and together we will!

United Way of Palm Beach County’s MISSION UNITED has an interactive map for veterans and military families in need. Resources include housing and medical assistance, VA and professional services, and other military support agencies. Veterans and their families can access this help by calling the 2-1-1 Helpline or through the Veteran Resource Map.

Intel Reports
For veterans in need, you just have to dial three numbers: 2-1-1. In partnership with the Florida Department of Veteran Affairs and the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, 2-1-1 connects veterans with resources to help them transition back to civilian life.
MISSION UNITED is proud to be a partner with 2-1-1 to help bring awareness and resources to help our veteran community get the help they need.
If you are looking for a great opportunity to learn how to play golf or just fine-tune your swing, this program is for you. Located at Dyer Park, a quick jaunt over from the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, First Tee of the Palm Beaches provides free instruction for veterans.
Last year, over 250 veterans took advantage of this program, creating friendships while shaving some strokes off their golf game.
Read and Initial Board
The Read and Initial Board is the place for various bits of information. In Marine Aviation, we use these boards to publish important information that the masses need to see. Here, you will find links to flyers, events, and other important information from MISSION UNITED-funded agencies.
Interested in getting involved with sports? Palm Beach County is offering scholarships to Veterans to officiate a range of sports.
Need some help preparing for a new job? CareerSource of Palm Beach County has many tools to assist veterans in their quest for work!
