Quality health care is one of the foundations for building a resilient community. Under our Empowering Healthy Lives focus area, we invest in programs that provide our community greater access to health care services and improve the quality of life for people with special needs.
Residents under the age of 65 are uninsured
Children with disabilities live in households experiencing financial hardship
Clients were served by 22 United Way funded programs last year
Our funded programs enroll residents in health care benefits, promote health and wellness, and provide primary and mental health care to people without adequate insurance access.
Our team also invests in programs for individuals with special needs and their families. By funding out-of-school activities for children and adults with special needs and respite care for their families and caretakers, we support families in meaningful, restorative ways. United Way also manages the Special Needs Equipment Fund which provides medically necessary equipment for children with special needs when insurance will not pay for it.
Watch this video to hear from our nonprofit partners and their clients as they share how their lives are changed through participating in United Way funded programs.
