MISSION UNITED: Comprehensive Support for Veterans

If you are a veteran with an honorable discharge and a Florida ID, you can receive hearing, dental, vision and/or mental health care at no cost at Nova Southeastern University. Your spouse needs a Florida ID and the marriage certificate, while dependants will need their birth certificate.

Services include individual therapy, family therapy, eye exams, prescription glasses and sunglasses, contact lenses, hearing and balance evaluation, hearing aids, routine dental care and evaluation, cleanings, and much more. They are all available at the Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus, located at 3200 S. University Drive, Sanford L. Ziff Health Care Center in Fort Lauderdale.

The application window for the 2024-2025 MISSION UNITED Grant has opened! All applications must be submitted by April 2 via email to MissionUnited@UnitedWayPBC.org. Notice of decisions should be done in July 2024, with funds distributed by September 30, 2024.
Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections has multiple ways to engage the veteran community. The first is the Honor Wall, a digital wall honoring the veterans of Palm Beach County. The next is to be an election worker. This is a paid position vital to the success of our democratic republic. They also have an adopt-a-precinct program for organizations.

Read and Initial Board

The Read and Initial Board is the place for various bits of information. In Marine Aviation, we use these boards to publish important information that the masses need to see. Here, you will find links to flyers, events, and other important information from MISSION UNITED-funded agencies.

A milestone regarding the PACT Act was recently passed. Now, all veterans who were exposed to toxins and other hazards while serving at home or abroad are eligible for VA health care.

This is a historical expansion of the VA health care system, as they eliminated the phase-in approach that would have taken eight years to become available. Suppose you can show deployment to Vietnam, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, or any combat zone after 9/11 or exposure stateside during training to hazards. In that case, you can apply for enrollment and gain access for life.
The Florida Department of Health awarded the Fire Watch and LivingWorks a grant to provide safeTalk veteran suicide prevention training to veterans, community members with any military affiliation, and healthcare professionals in several counties of Florida, Palm Beach County being one of them.

This training will be provided on May 17 at the Palm Beach County Health Department on 45th Street in West Palm Beach from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Lunch and training materials will be provided.
