United Way of Palm Beach County’s Tocqueville Society is named after French author Alexis de Tocqueville who traveled extensively through the United States in the 1800’s and wrote Democracy in America. De Tocqueville recognized and applauded the American desire to take a personal role in the advancement of society by combining philanthropy and service.
Today, De Tocqueville’s observations live on through United Way of Palm Beach County’s Tocqueville Society. Our members have served as one of our community’s most prestigious and effective philanthropic organizations. With a minimum investment of $10,000 annually, society members are philanthropic leaders who believe being surrounded by like-minded investors is the best way to collectively tackle some of Palm Beach County’s biggest issues.

“ Volunteering on the United Way Board allows me to turn compassion into action. I’ve supported United Way throughout my career, but serving in this role gives me a deeper connection to the lives we’re changing. At NCCI, I give through our campaign and hope to inspire others to do the same. United Way ensures every dollar reaches the people and programs that need it most – amplifying our collective impact across the community.” – Donna Glenn, Tocqueville Cabinet Chair
