MISSION UNITED: Support Local Veterans This Holiday Season

Posted November 18, 2023

As the holidays approach, the need for food is greater than ever. United Way of Palm Beach County works collaboratively with local partners to assist the community, from supplying weekend meal bags for children to home meal delivery for senior citizens.

A robust food pantry system is the best way to ensure people can access emergency food. Pantries rely mainly on food from local food banks and other donations. Inflation and the end of many COVID-era food programs have decreased contributions and food available through the emergency food system. Support your local food bank and pantry system through food donations.

The Palm Beach County Food Finder Map is an interactive tool that connects residents with food resources and social service agencies that provide hot meals, food pantry groceries, and SNAP application assistance, and now includes Thanksgiving meal sites!

Intel Reports

The Veteran Business Project is a nonprofit entity that provides mentorship and assistance to veterans wanting to start their own businesses. With Florida Atlantic University and Everglades University both having popular entrepreneurship courses for veterans and a significant number of local veteran-owned businesses, no veteran has to do this alone. See the VBP information sheet below to get started!

MISSION UNITED is proud to be a partner with 2-1-1 to help bring awareness and resources to help our veteran community get the help they need.
The Season of Hope is a community-wide toy and food drive hosted by United Way of Palm Beach County, WPTV Channel 5 News, and community partners benefiting local families. The campaign kicked off on November 6 and will run until December 16. Items collected will go to individuals and families in need in Palm Beach and Treasure Coast Counties.
