Make it Rain Kindness During National Volunteer Month

Posted March 30, 2021

You know the saying: “April showers bring May flowers.” Well, that saying works for kindness too! April is National Volunteer Month, and we are celebrating the power of volunteering to be a flood of hope in PBC. Every hour you spend giving your time, talents, and treasure is like planting a seed that will bloom into help for neighbors across our community.

Last year, 8,058 United Way volunteers contributed 165,747 hours of volunteer work, even through the pandemic! This brought a value of over $4.1 million to our community and helped local seniors have enough to eat, provided kids with virtual mentorship, distributed PPE so nonprofits could continue to serve more clients than ever before, and helped deliver 100,000 vaccinations in PBC!

Research continues to show how beneficial volunteering can be for our well-being and our community, and for people of all ages! United Way offers a variety of ways you can shower our community in love and kindness this month!
