About Dr. Randy D. Blakely
Dr. Randy Blakely is a distinguished neuroscientist and academic leader recognized for his groundbreaking research on neurotransmitter systems, including the cloning of genes targeted by antidepressants and psychostimulants. A graduate of Emory University (B.A., summa cum laude) and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine (Ph.D.), he has held prominent academic positions at Emory, Vanderbilt, and Florida Atlantic University, where he serves as Executive Director of the Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute.
Blakely has published over 360 papers, garnered 36,000+ citations, holds more than a dozen patents, and is a member of the National Academy of Inventors, AAAS, and ACNP. Honored for both research and mentorship, he has received awards from NIH, ASPET, and the Society for Neuroscience, among others. He has mentored over 100 students and fellows, fostering careers in neuroscience, and serves on numerous advisory boards focused on mental health and neurological disorders.
