Our 32nd Annual Project Thanksgiving™ Raised Over $60,000!

Posted December 21, 2022

United Way of Palm Beach County kicked off our annual Project Thanksgiving™ in partnership with CBS 12 News and the Palm Beach County Food Bank on October 17, 2022, with a brand-new energy for giving back. Project Thanksgiving™ began 32 years ago to raise money and food supplies to provide our neighbors in need with a hearty, warm holiday meal. Each year, we spread joy throughout the community by ensuring that every family in Palm Beach County is able to celebrate the season of giving thanks by having a delicious meal on Thanksgiving to share with their loved ones. We hosted our Project Thanksgiving™ telethon in-person on November 1, 2022, for the first time in two years at the CBS 12 News studio to give our community the opportunity to call in and make a donation. The phones rang nonstop throughout the entire day with residents from all across Palm Beach County calling in to show how passionate they are about feeding local families this holiday season. By the end of the telethon, we raised over $12,000 thanks to the support our entire community! Watch us host our 32nd annual telethon here!

CBS 12 News put a spotlight on three agencies in our community that are making a massive impact this year in support of Project Thanksgiving™. The first story aired on October 27, 2022, and featured Feeding Hope Village, a UWPBC partner agency that distributes food to thousands of individuals and families in Palm Beach County through their weekly food drives. The second story aired on November 16, 2022, and highlighted Marc Julien Homes, a local business that collected over 3,500 food donation items for Project Thanksgiving™. This was even greater than the amount of food they donated last year!  Read how Marc Julien Homes helped feed our neighbors in need!

The third story aired on November 21, 2022, and featured Farmworker Coordinating Council of Palm Beach County, a UWPBC funded agency that serves migrant and seasonal farmworkers to improve their quality of life. Check out how FCC helped improve lives for PBC residents this year!

Our 32nd annual Project Thanksgiving™ could not be complete without a chance for our community to make an impact through volunteering. More than 60 of our dedicated volunteers joined us at the Palm Beach County Food Bank on November 11 and 12, 2022, to sort several hundred pounds of food donations to go to families in need. These volunteers included members of our Emerging Leaders and Women United membership groups who regularly donate their time to creating impactful change in our community. We sorted classic Thanksgiving staples including stuffing, macaroni & cheese, canned yams, and much more.

After closing out our Project Thanksgiving™ donations on November 30, 2022, we exceeded our donation goal for 2022 by over $20,000!

Here’s How Our Community Helped Our Neighbors in Need:

  • We raised over $60,000 to purchase Thanksgiving meals for those in need.
  • We provided over 4,450 families with Thanksgiving meals to share with their loved ones.
  • We collected more than 9,800 pounds of food donations from over 20 businesses, organizations, and student clubs in the County through our food drive.

Thank you to everyone who supported our community and helped us feed the thousands of Palm Beach County residents who struggled to put a warm, hearty Thanksgiving meal on their table this time of the year. Together, we spread so much joy and changed so many lives.
